Mother Nature decided to take a dump on Northern Virginia this past weekend leaving us with almost 3 feet of snow (drifts as high as 5 feet!) and ice to deal with. Schools have been closed all week, as well as the federal government, which means no daycare. Half-assed plowed roads also mean no traveling, hence the onset of cabin fever. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere’s JOHNNY! The driveway is clear now thanks to Maurice’s ongoing efforts, and Olivia seems to be hanging on by a thin thread. We keep trying to come up with new things to do, but the house just isn’t as exciting as daycare. She loses her cool must faster at home and bores quickly as well. We bought a bucket of fake food from Target the other day to go with her little kitchen, but the novelty of that wore off after 1 hour. She really needs a bigger kitchen. The one we have now was great for when she was learning how to pull up and walk, but she’s taller than it now and can nearly tip it over. I’m eye-balling one offered by Toysrus, but it’s almost $100 so I think we’re going to hold off on that for a while.
We’ve passed the time with coloring, cake baking, organizing (Liv loves to put things up, mess it up, then fix it up again), and picture-taking, though the picture taking isn’t all that awesome since it’s been so dark indoors.

In other news, Valentine’s cards may be late because of all the snow. We need stamps, but we have to be able to get to the store or post office first for stamps!
