    Rats! Foiled again…

    Monday, June 9th, 2008

A recent article on Fox News Network reveals that salmonella poisoning is being tied to uncooked tomatoes. WHA WHA WHA? There goes my cravings for tomatoes! I guess you can’t win eh? How on earth does salmonella get on a tomato anyway? No, wait… I don’t want to know. It’s too depressing.

On another note, Maurice and I shopped a lot this weekend for the rest of the baby-must-haves and stocked up the nursery really well. I should have some good pictures tomorrow. Today we only just got around to taking the trash out, so I need to go back through the room and fix up a couple of things before taking pictures. I also finished her quilt. It’s not much, since I’m not a quilter (don’t have the patience), but it is the first time I’ve ever hand-bound a quilt with mitered corners. It’s cute, and turned out much better than I had expected!

    Tomatoes

    Monday, February 4th, 2008

I’ve had some weird-for-me cravings so far (pizza… bacon… rocky road ice cream), but tomatoes are just ODD. First, it is healthy. Second, tomatoes are freaking expensive in Northern Virginia this time of year (roughly $3 per pound!). It seems to be all I can think of for the past few days. Tomato sandwiches, sliced with salt/pepper, sliced and dipped into dressing… sliced and soaked in vinegar… yeah. It’s that bad. Poor Maurice had to run out last night and grab tomatoes before I began cooking dinner, which of course was ravioli with a, you guessed it, tomato-based red sauce.

It seems that Mini-Nelson enjoys a tasty tomato on occasion.

On a side note, I woke up suddenly Sunday morning around 8am due to an odd feeling in my lower abdomen. It felt like someone walked up to me and rubbed his knuckles against my belly. Very odd sensation. Either I had a bad case of “burrito baby” or perhaps I just felt the baby flip. Either way, I probably shouldn’t count it as such until I’m further along and know for sure!
